Eovaldi Stumbles as Red Sox Fall to Rangers in Shutout Loss

Red Sox Ace Falters in Arlington

Nathan Eovaldi, the Boston Red Sox's ace pitcher, struggled mightily in his outing against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. Eovaldi gave up four runs in the first inning and was eventually charged with eight runs in just four innings of work. The Rangers cruised to a 9-0 victory, handing Eovaldi his first loss of the season.

Eovaldi's Struggles

Eovaldi entered the game with a 1.61 ERA, but he was unable to find his rhythm against the Rangers. He walked three batters and hit another in the first inning, and the Rangers took advantage by scoring four runs. The Red Sox bullpen was unable to stop the bleeding, as the Rangers tacked on four more runs off Darwinzon Hernandez and Jake Diekman.

Eovaldi's outing was a major disappointment for the Red Sox, who were hoping for a strong start from their ace. Eovaldi has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past few seasons, but he has not been able to find his groove in 2023.

Red Sox Offense Struggles

The Red Sox offense also struggled in Tuesday's game. They were unable to get anything going against Rangers' starter Dane Dunning, who allowed just three hits in six innings of work. Trevor Story and Kike Hernandez each had a single, and Christian Arroyo doubled, but the Red Sox could not push any runs across.

The Red Sox have now lost two of their last three games and are 10-10 on the season. They will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they face the Rangers again in Arlington.
