Gayle King Tests Positive for COVID-19
CBS Morning Co-host Urges Fans to Take Health Seriously
King Tested Positive on Monday, Weeks After Battling Tendonitis
Broadcast journalist Gayle King has tested positive for COVID-19, she revealed on Monday. The 67-year-old CBS Mornings anchor took to Instagram from her hospital bed to urge her fans to take their health seriously.
"I have been taking all the precautions, but unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID-19," King wrote. "I am sharing this because I want everyone to know that this is not just a matter of statistics. It's a real virus that can affect anyone, no matter how careful you are."
King said that she is experiencing mild symptoms, including a sore throat and body aches, but is otherwise doing well. She is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
"I would like to thank all of the amazing doctors and nurses who are taking such good care of me," King said. "I am so grateful for their hard work and dedication."
King's diagnosis comes just a few weeks after she was diagnosed with tendonitis. She shared the diagnosis directly from Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who said that King was experiencing inflammation in her tendons due to overuse.
"I am so grateful that I am doing well and am able to share my story," King said. "Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. This virus is real, and it's important to stay vigilant."
