Philadelphia 76ers Trade James Harden to LA Clippers
Harden, Tucker, and Petrusev Sent West
Clippers Acquire Former MVP
The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly agreed to a three-team trade that will send All-Star guard James Harden to Los Angeles. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news early Tuesday morning.
In exchange for Harden, the 76ers will receive veteran forward P.J. Tucker and young center Filip Petrusev from the Clippers. The deal also involves the Brooklyn Nets, who will send guard Seth Curry to Philadelphia.
Harden's departure from Philadelphia comes after a tumultuous tenure with the team. The former MVP requested a trade earlier this season, and the 76ers have been actively shopping him since then.
The Clippers, meanwhile, have been searching for a franchise-changing superstar. They believe Harden can fill that role and help them compete for a championship.
The trade has yet to be officially announced by the NBA, but press releases from all three teams have confirmed the deal.
Who Won the Trade?
It's too early to say who won or lost this trade. Harden is a proven All-Star, but he is also 33 years old and has been dealing with injuries in recent years.
The Clippers are betting that Harden still has plenty of good basketball left in him. If he can stay healthy and play at a high level, they could be a legitimate contender in the Western Conference.
The 76ers, on the other hand, are getting two solid role players in Tucker and Petrusev. Tucker is a tough defender, while Petrusev is a promising young player with potential.
Only time will tell who ultimately won this trade.
